Yes, my syslog says it is losing sync.

Although I was not able to apply your first patch, I see what you are
trying to do...so I just manually went in and set that if-condition to 1
and that worked! :)  (My Dell Mini 10 netbook is only a few months old,
I was also guessing that this would work.)

Why was I unable to apply the patch?  Is order important (I still
applied the other 4 patches and then applied this in various places,
including second and fifth/last)?

Also, I think your first patch (in the previous comment) should be
removing the line " etd->fw_version_maj > 0x02) {".
