I now uploaded version 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7pitti2 to my PPA, which ignores
the "U.S. English" breakage as well. Testing appreciated!
The i386 build will be available in some 30 minutes, the amd64 variant
will unfortunately take another two hours, due to PPA builders being
clogged.
