Hi Jeremy, I can confirm that this (or perhaps a more restricted) problem occurs with 2.6.32-0206321203-generic from the mainline PPA. I could not test with the kernel linked from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/daily/current/, as that kernel hangs at boot time.
The problem appears to be related to the X server. In particular, it only occurs if I resume (from hibernation) with an external display attached. (Whether or not the external display was attached at hibernation time does not matter.) If I resume without the external display attached, things work fine. And I can later attach the display and activate it (using Fn-F7 on my Thinkpad keyboard to alternate between modes until I get the one I want). I believe the problem used to occur even without the external display, so it seems like things have improved somewhat. For what it's worth, I'm using a DVI display, attached to the DisplayPort via a DisplayPort to DVI adapter from Lenovo. Also, when I resume with the external display attached, I'm able to terminate the X server using Alt-SysRq-K. Not convenient, since that means losing all the apps that were running. But perhaps a sign that it's not a kernel bug? Let me know if I can provide any more information to help debug. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- resume from hibernate fails on thinkpad t410 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/543477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
