Have also tried:
[ipv6]
method=ignore
ignore-auto-routes=true
ignore-auto-dns=true
never-default=true

In network manager config and options single-request in resolv.conf

Nothing seems to stop it from trying AAAA despite ip -6 reporting no
ipv6 routes or interfaces.

I haven't tried that yet, for one thing his site is down, for another seems
rather old so I have no idea if it applies.

Basically, seems there is no way to make Lucid not try AAAA
