Jeremy, I just installed 10.04 via Wubi on an HP DV7 with the xb4 media docking station and am having the exact same issue w/ sound not being routed to external speakers that are connected via the dock. Do you still want apport info? If so, I can follow your instructions from 4/25, but anything beyond that will probably require in-depth instructions since I'm a complete newb. (I've been running ubuntu for a total of 30 mins so far.)
