This, or something very similar occurs on my fresh install of Lucid (did
not occur on Karmic).

Message indicating disk is being checked, and progress indicator, appear
after booting.

Progress indicator quickly gets to around 70%, then progessively slows
down dramaticly, taking several minutes to get to 90% where it just
seems to hang indefinitely.

Pressing C to cancel the check only seems to work before the progress
slows down.

Installed 10.04 desktop final release, amd64, on sda1 (32GB SSD, ext2),
/home on sdb1 (500GB HD, ext4).
