Public bug reported:

If installing from apt-get/aptitude:
Installer tells the user to go download a file and put it in /tmp then hit 
enter...then things go on properly

If installing from a GUI like Synaptic:
Installer appears to hang.  The request stays in the console which may or may 
not be expanded/visible to the user.  No popups tell the user what's happening.

Option 1:
Make the GUI more informative

Option 2:
Make the package automatically do what it's telling the user to do.
