I'm experiencing this issues in 10.04. Trying to use the "Facebook chat" account type and providing username and password, Empathy fails to authenticate. Instead, using the simple "Jabber account" and specifying full [email protected] as username and chat.facebook.com as server (no SSL) it works fine :/
