Hi marbertone. From the u1sdtool status you have posted it appears to be working now. Currently the service is very slow due to unexpectedly high server load with the release of ubuntu 10.04. The Ubuntu One team are currently adding more servers & working on load balancing
Please give it a couple of days. If you are still experiencing this issue, please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.
