Public bug reported:
I have two machines running feisty and both have weird oddities with the
update manager applet (i.e. the icon thingie that lives in the menubar).
The first machine I upgraded from edgy and it properly shows the little
orange star when updates are ready. Clicking on the orange star brings
up update manager and updates can be properly done. However, right
clicking on the orange star brings up a menu, but selecting the
Preferences menu item does nothing.
The second machine was a fresh feisty install from a daily build iso
(20070213 iirc). This machine never shows an orange star in the menubar
even when updates are available. Selecting
System->Administration->Update Manager manually does show the available
updates.
