Thanks for your report. From the logs, I see:

This would mean there's not enough free RAM and swap to run the backends. This
case is pretty unlikely. How much memory do you have? What does 'free -m'
reports? Does runnning the users tool fail all the time, or only sometimes?
What does running the following command say ?
sudo /usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl -m
UsersConfig -v
