It looks like this issue was caused by the presence of the Scribes text editor
http://scribes.sourceforge.net/ which I'd built from source and installed. Ubuntu was refusing to overwrite the files, so I ended up moving the SCRIBES folder from dist- packages out into /tmp and running the install again. Appears to be running fine now. Does anybody know how I would (in future) tell the upgrade process to ignore (and overwrite) any packages like this? -- package python2.6-minimal 2.6.5-1ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
