** Attachment added: "/etc/fstab"
   http://librarian.launchpad.net/6894112/fstab

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

Since 2.6.20-12 (every -XX version before working fine), my laptop stops
the boot process with a rescue shell, saying that fsck did not succeed.

Strangely, my root partition /dev/hda2 is mounted as /dev/sda2, though I
  surely have no SCSI devices.

- fsck stop on checking /dev/hda4.
+ fsck stop on checking /dev/hda4 (which is, as opposed to the other
+ partitions, a reiserfs).

It syas it has successfully checked /dev/sda2 (sic!) before.
