Dave, You are not an idiot. You are simply unfamiliar with Linux and Ubuntu. There is nothing wrong with that. My attempt was to simply help you get the kind of beginning help you need to address this issue. The real issue is, I really can't help you effectively in a bug. There must be some interactive work for you to understand, that way you can get the information you need in realtime.
