I reinstalled everything from fresh install after my system crash. My system crash after installing Avira AV for Linux, making all my partitions corrupted.
After fresh install, i still experienced ticking of sound as described above. Additional info (hoping this might help) No sound ticking when playing music with Rhythmbox. No sound ticking when when playing a movie with VLC media player. Ticking comes back when playing a movie with the default Movie Player. Starting a movie with VLC, i hear ticking in a few seconds then disappear. Still hear ticking when playing with VLC, while using mouse scroll with firefox.
