Again, sorry for an off-topic comment: I see that pulseaudio in top consumes almost the same amount of cpu as mplayer playing an internet stream. What does pulseaudio do? It stays on the way of pretty much any application that needs to access the sound card. I am happy that it works for most of the cards. What I ask for is an alternative. Sigh, qui vivre verra how it goes...
