Downloading the .torrent file itself does nothing to your tracker ratio.
Transmission stores a copy of the .torrent file in
~/.config/transmission/torrents/ until you remove the torrent... you can
retrieve it from there. I agree that's not as convenient as having
Transmission automatically make a backup copy somewhere specified in the
preferences dialog. But on the other hand, I don't see this as a
feature that many people would use -- so making it possible, rather than
easy, is probably the right level of effort for this ticket.
