I'd like to also say that I have this problem. Using 10.04 and kernel 2.6.32-22 on 64-bit. I have a Broadcom 4312 card on my laptop, with a ZyXEL router using WPA-PSK enabled. Just now I logged on and failed to connect. Waited a few minutes to try again and was connected to the router. I usually have to try numerous times before I could connect, one time it took almost an hour and a half.
Just a note -- I have no trouble connecting an unsecured router at the local coffeshop.
