This problem just happened to me as well, I renamed the miro-log file to
miro-log.bak, and it worked. (I was contemplating a uninstall
reinstall, but decided to run in terminal to see if that would work-
around the not opening problem, I got the "IOError: [Errno 5]
Input/output error: '/home/XXXXX/.miro/miro-log'" error, so I figured
deleting the file would probably work to get the program to recreate the
file, and it did.)

So I'm posting this to help out anyone else who might have this issue,
as well as to say that perhaps the program should have a procedure to
ask the owner if he would like to create a backup of the file and delete
it. I'm just saying.
