Trevino, It looks as though your files are trying to download. The service has been slow due to a spikes in activity associated with the release. Ubuntu One first downloads the metadata, which is the folders you are seeing, then the files.
roadsurfer, Yours is disconnecting and then getting stuck in the 'Standoff' state bug 487257. when this happens all you can do is restart the client. The disconnects might be because of the spikes in traffic that have been causing the service to work not as well as it should. The U1 Team has been working hard to fix these problems and the service is improving with each new rollout since the release of Lucid. In the last couple days I have had improved upload speed and no disconnects. I would recommend to you both to upgrade to Lucid . There have been a lot of improvements in that release. Not only with Ubuntu One, but the OS overall. There is a newer client available for Karmic in the Beta PPA that you can try if you continue to have problems and do not want to upgrade the OS. Be aware it does not have an applet. It has been replaced by an Ubuntu One Preferences window. This is found in the Me Menu in Lucid. Since Karmic does not have a Me Menu you access Ubuntu One through System > Preferences > Ubuntu One.
