Ok, I see the problem now: It is not that the lucid gthumb is shown as 2.11.3
(that is your "checkinstalled" version), the gthumb version is shown correctly
as "3:2.11.2.1.is.2.10.11-0ubuntu1". However, for some reason, several years
ago there was this "epoch" number added in front of the gthumb version --
therefore it counts as more recent than your version. Your problem should be
solved if you name your self-compiled version "3:2.11.3" instead of "2.11.3".
As this is not a bug in gthumb, I'm marking the bug as invalid - thanks for
following up on your bug report.
