I've got the same problem. Ubuntu loads very quickly to the login screen, then takes 26 seconds to show my wallpaper + icons + panel. I've attached my .xsession-errors when running gnome-session with the --debug option. I only started my session and loaded gnome-terminal to copy the .xsession-errors file.
