I definitely feel that what farw is experiencing is indeed a bug and should be addressed.
That being said, I do have a suggestion that might get you, farw, to a better place. I don't know about your exact machine and it's hardware, however my machine has an ATI Radeon HD 3670 graphics adapter which are notoriously a problem for Linux users. When I first installed Kubuntu 10.04 I was using the radeon (oss) driver, which should be the best driver for Linux since it is both open source and ATI officially releases their board specifications to the OSS community... and even code snippets from their proprietary driver (something that Nvidia definitely does not AFAIK). Truth of the matter is though, the radeon driver doesn't support OpenGL and I believe this is why my laptop temps go sky-rocketing since all that compute is outsourced to the CPU. What I am running for a video driver is the latest proprietary driver from ATI (Catalyst v10.4)... *not* the one from the Ubuntu/Kubuntu Proprietary Hardware Manager. It works pretty well and I do not have the problems you're experiencing. Here's the link: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx?type=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.3.25&lang=English Kubuntu folks are usually reluctant (from prior experience) back-porting these kinds of things. Hope this helps. -- pm-suspend does nothing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
