The ethernet card is controlled by driver atl1c, so my guess about seems wrong, and this issue has nothing to do with atheros wireless driver problem. In fact, it seems exactly the same issue reported here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=88466. The only solution seems to go back to a 2.6.31 kernel, or wait. I will research a bit more anyway.
