Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs
I do not even know where to begin.
I installed on a clean hard disk - hd0,1 and appeared fine - reboot and I get
the 'device not found' error.
I spend countless hours wandering around documentation here - and in community
in a futile attempt to resolve the problem.
If the published instructions work - they do not resolve the issue -
only half of the time do they work. Case in point - downloaded
boot_info_script55.sh - did the terminal sudo bash / / / boot --- and
get a variety of errors - net effect that it won't run.
Tonight I went back community forums - attempted to log in. My log in
that worked this morning is not working tonight. I attempted to request
password reset - forum does not recognize my email address - even though
it is sending me emails. So - I am advised to contact the administrator
- when I do that - I am asked to log in.
Any one familiar with Catch-22?
All the hype out there about 10.04 - probably going to attract some
never seen Ubuntu folks - if my experience is anywhere near what theirs
will be - Microsoft is going to be raking in the $$$$.
There needs to be a specific area that addresses ONLY 10.04. Solutions
for 7.xx do me absolutely no good. Bitter experience has taught me (in
the past 48 hours) that 'old' solutions are no solutions. New solutions
are not much better.
I can not use apport to report the bug - it is far and away too
pervasive.
