Same problems with two noname adapters JAE50->SATA on two nVidia motherboards
(Zotac 9300-ITX and Zotac IONTX-A). In my case adapter start working after
forcing transfer mode to mwdma2. (To do this create file
/etc/modprobe.d/libata with flowing content
options libata force=4:noncq,mwdma2 there 4 is number from dmesg ata4.00:
exception Emask ..... After creating this file execute sudo update-initramfs -u
and reboot your system)
