More hints :
- SDcard and usb peripherals were FAT32 formatted
- after an apparently successful "big" file transfer, if you try to disconnect
the peripheral, you get a message to wait till the end of the data transfer
then after some time you get a second message saying that you cannot
disconnect... nevertheless if you ignore the message and physically disconnect
the peripheral and then if you reconnect the same peripheral, the good news is
that the file structure is still valid except for the latest transfered files,
that cannot be read or are barely disappeared
Comment : with Hardy 8.04 Xubuntu on Eeepc 701 4G, in the same situation, you
may get the same messages when trying to disconnect an usb peripheral,
including the second one saying that you cannot disconnect, but you only have
to wait till eventually things get done.
Comment : I experienced much worse problems with other kernels (esp the first
Jaunty kernels as far as I remember), with scrambled partitions and file
structures on the peripheral even to the point where it cannot be reformatted
