Hi Martin, we'll need to step through a multiprocess here if you're
willing to bear with me.
Firstly, please try installing linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r)
from ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev and rebooting. If that resolves the issue, I
have a good idea which change was effective.
Secondly, if that package above was insufficient, please *purge* it
(linux-alsa-driver-modules*) and add the following line to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (create if necessary), then reboot:
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1
