Public bug reported:
Platform: Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo L710GW laptop with 3 integrated usb 2.0 ports.
OS: Ubuntu 6.1
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster Live 24bit Ext, USB
Problem:
The soundcard seems to be recognized, but it produces no real sound;
only choppy "tok-tok-tok" sounds. The card did'nt start working even
after a fresh OS install with the device connected during installation.
Alsamixer and gnome's sound manager show the card with one pcm slider,
but adjusting volume is slow and seems to even hang for some time.
aplay -l lists the card as follows:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 1: External [SB Live! 24-bit External], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
lsusb produces the following:
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 041e:3040 Creative Technology, Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
This really beats me - perhaps it is USB related? The gnome device
manager lists the sound card in the usb 1.1 group.
It seems that some users have got sound off the shelf with ubuntu 6.1
and this card, without manual tinkering; at least according to some
forum posts that i've found.
