Hello, I have the same problem, but on Samsung r430 (c2d 64bits + mobile 4 intel graphics), and i'm using Ubuntu 10.04 32bits. What i've realised is, the light stays on the initial status: if i turn on the pc whit the energy plugged, the LCD still at 100% even if I plugged off the energy. So if I turn on the pc whitout the energy plugged, the LCD still at 50% (or something), even if I plugged back on the energy.
