Hello Henning, this bug (#577219) affects me too. But I don't think it
is directly related to your hardware (Intel GMA4500M), because my
"nVidia NV34 [GeForce FX 5200]" does exactly the same you are describing
in your bug report above.
I've found two other bugs (#532746/#557779), and marked them as
duplicates of this bug (#577219).
I think there could be a relation to bug #555870, but the workaround
(uninstallation of gnome-screensaver) does not work for me.
