I have the same problem - or at least I did until I followed #38. I usually have an sd card mounted so I simply unmounted it, put the laptop into suspend, resumed with the power button and it came back. That's the first time it's done for at least two upgrades, so thanks, Juerg. It maybe helps that we have the same laptop, I also have a Dell XPS M1330.
