As explained in my original post, I don't experience this problem with the most
recent Inkscape versions (official and dev.).
It only happened on 9.04 and Inkscape 0.46-5ubuntu4, which can both be
considered deprecated, now that the new LTS is out.
I'm closing it "Invalid" for the Inkscape project because I can't say if the
bug came from my computer, Ubuntu or Inkscape.
