Text based installation from alternate-deskop-i386 CD did start
correctly. Installation begun but was stopped during unpacking software
with an error message about an invalid paket on the CD. A failed md5sum
for "/pool/main/k/kubuntu-docs/kubuntu-docs_7.04" was reported.

After manually installing grub I could reboot and login into the
konsole, where I could fix the problem by manually installing all failed
packets (and more) from Internet repositories.

A failed md5sum shouldn't break the entire installation process. Of
course I tried to restart the software installation from the
installation menu, but it fails with the same error again.

BTW, I noticed IDE drives were now sd* devices. And all hard disc
devices where completly re-ordered. Guess this could cause some problems
when updating systems.

I tried the default herd-5 desktop CD once again. No choice to boot
from.

I saved the install logs from text installion. If needed, I can upload
them, but they contain german text. If I can do anything else to locate
the problem I'll try.

And I'll try the beta release, too, and update the report by time.

Thanks.
