I have the same problem - but only on my work machine (annoying). I've also found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1440048 which seems to hint that the problem might be related to Assistive technologies. Their workaround works for me. Even though I've disabled assistive technologies at startup I am still faced with the same problem (and the same workaround - changing the activating/deactivating assistive technologies).
