Public bug reported:
Fresh install of Lucid keeping the older /home from my jaunty install
fails to power down the system either using the "shutdown" option on the
menu or by issuing "halt" on the command line.
I have not faced this issue with previous versions of ubuntu going back
to 8.04 which i still run on similar hardware and which shuts down
normally.
I have also noticed that lucid does not honor the power button shutdown
options which used to work earlier with Jaunty. ACPI issue?
I have tried ACPI=force as a part of the kernel boot cmdline - no go.
