I cannot reproduce this with CJ 2.0 (which is available in my PPA).
When I change the default browser to Chromium for example, and click the
link, it opens in a new Chromium page. Further, if I set Firefox as the
default browser and close it, clicking on the link definitely brings up
my default profile.
