I've found a solution. A real one. It seems that it's a problem with Network Manager. People who have routers with gateways will make Network Manager incorrectly set the DNS to the router's internal address. This only works if everything is set to automatic. If you set the DNS manually in Network Manager, this can be fixed completely, provided you know the DNS's address, presumably from going on the router's config page and looking for it there if you haven't seen it.
