I also have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo (I think 1818). The WiFi card is a Fujitsu
Siemens D2301 WLAN.
ndiswrapper worked fine in jaunty. I kept my jaunty partition as a backup.
Since upgrading to lucid it won't work.
I've reinstalled ndiswrapper and recreated the /etc/ndiswrapper/ config.
I've tested with the 2.6.32-21 kernel, and the latest 2.6.32-22.
I also tried using the jaunty kernel (2.6.28) on the lucid partition, and the
freeze still occurs.
However I can reliably boot and use the ndiswrapper driver on jaunty using the
same kernel.

If I boot into recovery mode, resume the normal boot, and then modprobe wlan0,
the soft lockup occurs.
Once I got a traceback but unfortunately the disk didn't seem to sync properly
so I couldn't find it on reboot - but it did have KfAcquireSpinLock in it. (See
#526450)

Since the jaunty kernel causes errors on lucid too, this seems to point to a
problem in ndiswrapper...
Would it be worth downgrading ndiswrapper to the jaunty version and testing
that?
