According to the changelog, this was fixed in karmic:
adobe-flashplugin (10.0.32.18-1karmic1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Added flashplugin-installer conflict as while both can co-exist, it's a
    wasted download for the user as it installs the contents of this very
    package

And I cannot reproduce it in Lucid. Is it still an issue for you ? Could you 
please try with the latest release - Lucid Lynx ?
If it still fails, could you please provide this output of:
$ apt-cache policy adobe-flashplugin flashplugin-installer
