Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source
This sound card uses CA0106 alsa module and on 9.10 as well as on 10.04 it produces highly disturbed sound (almost white noise, but not random). More on this topic can be found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1102809 (Creative Soundblaster 5.1 VX : Bad ( unusable ) Sound) http://guide.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1104738 (White noise from Sound Blaster 5.1 VX, amd64) Possible fix can be found here: http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2008-October/011333.html I can't give more details right now, because that bug affects my friend's machine, so I don't have access to it right now. I guess all required info can be found here: http://guide.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6947135&postcount=1 (except the kernel version, because it's still present on 2.6.32-22-generic). But if it's really needed, I will provide more info. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sound Blaster 5.1VX produces only iritating white noise https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582955 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
