somehow I fixed this by my self... 1)I used the ppas above and ran the update 2)I renamed the /etc/ati folder to /etc/ati_OLD 3)I restarted with: sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart 4)ran Ubuntu in low graphic mode and installed ati driver from ati site. 5)again I restarted and I dont see any problems by now. If anything changes I ll post it. Good luck
