This bug is still present in Lucid (10.04LTS) with OpenOffice.org 3.2.0
OOO320m12 (Build:9483).

NOTE: I ran "apport-collect 562477" as requested in post #2, but got an
error saying "Package openoffice.org not installed".   That's a true
statement because it appears that the package name is openoffice.org-
common.  So there may be some bug in the apport-collect setup for oo
...?    I'll attach output from dpkg-query showing what was installed.
I installed Lucid (10.04LTS) from scratch and then added a number of
additional packages, none related to openoffice AFAK.

Here's a transcript:

$ apport-collect 562477
