Well, I think, I understand now why the above happens: Even though I put the 
cursor in the last row, when I select the whole 
column, the selected cell changes to the first visible cell in this column and 
the "search backwards" action searches from
that point on, correctly, but not necessarily, that the user expects.
So, I suggest, to close this bug and - maybe - add a note in the documentation 
for that "search in selection only"-functionality.
