Ugh never mind. Not fixed. This is a flaky bug that I don't have the time to track down. I rarely boot Ubuntu on this machine anymore (this our media center and we sorely miss Netflix watch instantly and a decent TV-tuner/DVR when booted into Ubuntu) You can close this ticket out or leave it in case others have the same problem. I don't really care.
