It has been mentioned that you can restart either GDM or the computer to fix this problem, however this is only a temporary fix and the problem reoccurs on subsequent boot ups.
Also a lot of the other bugs around this have been marked as invalid with no reference to a duplicate bug or any reasoning as to why it is invalid.
