Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

Yesterday I fixed a production system which lost all printers in cups.
It looks like they have been deleted. My customer did nothing else as
usual, shutting the system down the day before and booting it up
yesterday morning. All printers were gone. In fact, there was only one
printer connected, with multiple queues for different page sizes and
printing modes. It took some time to reinstall all the queues and driver
settings, so it would be very annoying if that happened again.

The printer is connected via LAN, it's a Brother HL-5350DNLT, using the
cups supplied 5250 model foomatic driver. The system is setup to install
security updates unattended (via setting in "software sources").

Ubuntu version: 9.10
