I tried changing the number of virtual cpus and that did not help. However, when I increased the memory of the guest from 1G to 2G, the problem went away. However, I would still consider this a regression since I have been running this guest since Jaunty at 1G with no problems and no changes (software or virtual/physical hardware) other than Ubuntu version upgrades.
