Public bug reported:

When re-booting my pc it automatically gets me into a KDE log on screen, which
disappears before I can do anything. (The screen goes back to the normal Ubuntu
logo with the dots underneath)
I take it KDE is not installed as default so it seems that my pc don't really
know what to do. I cannot get back to my normal Gnome session during boot up. I
can get a command line during boot up (via ctrl+alt+F2) but whatever I do there
will not let me boot up in my normal Gnome. So it seems to be that the option
of logging on in KDE - though it is not available - caused this and somehow
locked the machine up.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
