Stenten I followed the first option from that link you provided and it worked!
After verifying it worked first by adding "i915.modeset=1" after "quiet splash", I made it permanent with the following two commands in a terminal window echo options i915 modeset=1 | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf sudo update-initramfs -u Thanks for your advice.
